Okay, so I know this picture is really dark, but it is the best shot of the sunset that I could take out of my kitchen window, hehe. And the sunsets are very pretty! So, just imagine a bunch of cars and trees and stuff in the lower part. :]
Not much is new. It was foggy today, and then everything cleared, and it was HOT. I went downtown and bought a “12-25 card” at the train station: it’s a special card that only 12-25 year olds can buy, and you get 50% off of almost every train ticket, which is a great deal! It was only 49 euros, and I could save that much off of a single trip to Paris, so considering that I’m going to be here for a year, that is a pretty sweet offer.
Now all I need to do is plan my weekend trips!! I was thinking Brittany? I’m not sure yet. Suggestions would be much appreciated!
I realized that the only pictures on this blog are of cats and buildings, so I promise to go out and take some more interesting shots. Maybe a couple of them will even include PEOPLE! Haha.
Oh, and I wanted to mention that I decided to start reading “La Reine Margot” - “Queen Margot” - by Alexandre Dumas. It’s about the massacre of the French Huguenots by the Catholics on August 24, 1572. It’s not exactly happy so far… haha…  but it’s all about Henry IV, the one who was born in Pau! His wife, Queen Marguerite/Margot, is basically the main character of the book. It is really weird to be reading about someone from history whose house I was just walking around in on Sunday. I live right up the street from where he was born!! I guess this is something that all Europeans are used to, because history is all around them, but it is one of my favorite parts of this experience so far.
Okay. Off to take a shower and then read some more before bed. I wish someone else would read this book at the same time as me, though, because I really want to talk about it. I always want to do that with the books I read. I guess that’s why I’m an English major. :]
Missing you all!
Love from,
Leanne
